What excites you the most about being a Peer Mentor? Just being able to share my love for this school with others; whether that’s helping or just talking about how much we love it here!
Why do you think FYS 101 courses are important? It helps you adapt to campus life. Many students, like myself, are scared coming in knowing all the scary stories that they’ve been told, and all the things they should do when they get here. Having a place to forget all about that and talk about it is just very relaxing. You need a safe place on campus and having the opportunity to provide that for people is an amazing feeling.
What is your favorite activity to do in Knoxville? THE SPORTS!! GO VOLS!!!!!!! Other than that going downtown is always fun. That, or going to Gatlinburg.
What is your go-to snack food? Can’t go wrong with some Mike & Ike’s from the pod!
Give your best piece of advice for first-year students: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t let the year go by. Of course it’s important to learn because that’s what you’re here for. As a student who didn’t get the opportunity to finish out his final freshman semester on campus, I’m going to miss life on campus sooooo much. Don’t let any kind of opportunities pass you by! You never know what they could give you or how they can help you grow! It’s also a great way to break out of your comfort zone. Be yourself and get out there and take advantage of the things our beautiful campus has to offer!
