Describe the university of Tennessee in one word: Potential
What excites you the most about being a Peer Mentor? I love speaking to students at the beginning of the semester to hear about the goals they wish to complete during their time at UT, and then being able to see them work towards those accomplishments over time. It's very inspiring.
Why do you think FYS 101 courses are important? I believe they serve as a bridge for the many transitions we face at this age: living on our own, growing into adulthood, or learning the dynamics of college-level courses. The classroom dynamic and the people who work with the FYS program are created and trained to be a means of personal support and guidance to students facing any challenges their first semester.
What is your favorite activity to do in Knoxville? Hiking!!
What is your go-to snack food? Goldfish or veggie straws
Give your best piece of advice for first-year students: Write everything down. Keep a planner where all your important information can be in one place. This includes daily schedules, test dates, contact information and office hours for your professors, and to-do lists. Don't assume you will remember something later...you probably won't.
