Orphan Films: Neglected But Not Forgotten Movies

Meeting timeCRNSession
TUESDAYS 12:40PM-1:55PM 45783Full Term

Bored of the same old Hollywood blockbuster movies? Want to watch movies like Bus Nut (1980), Xray experiments (1920s), or the Cas Walker Farm & Home Show (1970s) instead? Each week we’ll watch a selection of movies considered to be “orphans,” and talk about their cultural and historical significance. What’s an orphan film? It can be almost any kind of movie that falls outside the commercial mainstream, and has often been “abandoned” by its owner or creator. We’ll watch anything – including some real 16mm film! – from home movies, educational movies, and advertisements, to experimental artists’ films, outtakes, and local tv.
